Farm Journal Legacy Project
In May 2008, Farm Journal introduced the Farm Journal Legacy Project - a concerted, long-term effort to address the succession planning needs of America's farm families. Utilizing the strength of 13 media properties, the 134 year old legend, in collaboration with Legacy by Design, provides succession planning information and services to the agricultural community.
In January 2010, Pioneer Hi-Bred announced "a multiyear sponsorship to support the Farm Journal Legacy Project in addressing succession planning... (This will) kick off the single largest industry initiative of its kind in agriculture today." With Pioneer's philanthropic grant, the Legacy Project has now expanded to include a monthly national TV show, hosted by Kevin Spafford; a workshop series, weekly eNewsletter, case studies, and more. With Pioneer's generous support, the Legacy Project encourages action and celebrates success.
We invite you to check back regularly for updates on new resources to guide you, your family, and your operation.
"Leaving a legacy is more than building enduring family ties and creating an estate plan. A legacy is your success that lives on, from one generation to another...
Succession planning is the key to growing success and creating a family legacy. It is not a miracle but, for the participating farm families, succession planning is a life transforming experience...
Realizing that many farm families are wrestling with how to leave a legacy, how to pass on the farm, how to preserve the wealth and how to bridge the generations, we're launching the Farm Journal Legacy Project...
Kevin Spafford, Farm Journal's succession planning expert and founder of Legacy by Design, will lead the consulting team that works with the families... from consultation to implementation."
