Sappy as it sounds, every time I turn onto our limestone country road, my heart is happier. That’s been the case
whether I was a little girl riding in the Galaxie 500 sedan with Mom and Dad, a kid bouncing around the corner on a
school bus or a teenager driving myself.

Now, three decades later, I live only two miles down the same bumpy road. My family drives by my homeplace every
day, keeping a sharp eye out for what we call “Claire sightings.” One glimpse of that toddler, my great-niece, is license
to whip into the driveway and see what cute things she’s doing now.

Claire is growing up in the same house I did—in the exact same room, in fact. My parents would be pleased to see
how proud Dennis, Claire’s father, is to have the place. It’s more than a home and more than a farm. It is a legacy.
Cultivating multigenerational success like that is the heartbeat of the Farm Journal Legacy Project. As a trusted
information source for 133 years, we at Farm Journal realize that securing a legacy for the farm is a proud achievement.
We are committed to making sure families have access to the execution tools needed to leave a legacy.

Our ability to follow through on that promise just became infinitely easier thanks to a philanthropic grant from Pioneer Hi-Bred. The company understands the importance of succession planning and made the pledge in a manner
much like companies that support public television or radio. The commitment is a pure, noncommercial investment
in doing what’s right.

We look forward to using the investment to help each of you leave a legacy. That dedication stretches well beyond
when Claire is old enough to race to the road to meet us as we drive by.
