In his article, "Succession Success" in BusinessWeek (April 23, 2007), Timothy G. Habbershon makes excellent points about open communication among family members.

Habbershon, who is director of the Institute for Family Enterprising at the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship at Babson College, advocates for looking at the big picture, including all involved family members in the conversation, and not shying away from a little "normal and healthy" conflict.

Habbershon concludes with this thought:

"A facilitator may be able to help ensure that the bold,
opportunistic spirit that started your business remains part of its future."
